Kobo’s stunning new European Software Development Centre in Dublin called for a series of statement plants that would set a creative and innovative tone for new employees.
The world-leading eReading business tasked Mummie Plants with the challenge, in conjunction with designers SLMD (Studio:LM) and Main Contractor Connect Construct.
The plants we installed are all from our unique, naturally-preserved range meaning zero-maintenance costs for Kobo. Pictured is the Ghostwood piece we custom-designed for their ultra-modern kitchen area.
Ghostwood’s thrusting limbs and time-worn expressiveness makes it a stellar corporate “plant”. Also known as California Driftwood it is sculpture as crafted by Nature. Each branch is one-of-a-kind, an individual with a story to tell of years spent at sea or in running rivers, weathered by wind, sand and sun.
Ghostwood is Nature pared back to its essentials, which made it a perfect fit with Kobo’s minimalist interior. We arranged the selected branches in an evocative, elk-head form reminiscent of the company’s Canadian roots.
A textured, smoke-coloured Polystone planter completes the piece. It is handmade, comprising a mixture of ground synthetic material and natural stone.
