Creating a stimulating working environment for employees is a key trend that is set to continue. With smart technology allowing for smaller desks companies are looking to designers to create space that encourages creative energy. Gone are the days of the grey office cubicle and sad office plant.
Companies that are investing in good workplace design are benefiting from better staff retention, productivity and happiness. The modern working environment is likely to be open plan allowing for greater collaboration amongst employees. Informal areas where people can commune and gather to easily share ideas are becoming the norm. Bright colours, artistic works and funky plant design are just some of the elements used by designers to reflect the company culture.
This recent project demonstrates how multi functional office planting can be. The brief for this project was to divide this large open plan office using a contemporary planting scheme. As space was at a premium the client opted for a preserved moss wall. The wall serves several purposes, functionally it works to divide the space as per the brief, aesthetically it provides the natural green element so necessary for staff productivity and it helps to reduce noise levels by reflecting and absorbing acoustic energy.
The panels measuring 270 x 300cm were constructed using a mixture of Flat, and Bun preserved mosses. The design and production of the panels took 5 days in the workshop and a further day to install on site. These preserved walls do not require watering, feeding or maintenance. A professional clean once a year to remove dust will keep them looking fresh.
