Tomorrow, April 13th, is Plant Appreciation Day – the plant world’s equivalent of Mother’s Day! A time to stop and think of these wonderful creatures we so often take for granted, a once-a-year opportunity to show our gratitude for all they do for us. Need some last minute tips? Here goes…
Take a minute and check if your plants look healthy and fresh. Do they look a bit withered or dry? Prune off any unsightly leaves and give them a drink of fresh water. Consider: When was the last time they were fed – maybe they could use some baby-bio/fertilizer? How healthy and springy does the soil look? If it is dry and faded, it could be time for a change. When was the last time you changed the plant’s pot? Maybe it could use replanting in a bigger planter. Does your plant look droopy and down-hearted? Perhaps it is crying out for a sunnier location.
Unlike Mums, plants do need constant attention in exchange for all that they give back. If your plants have been a bit short on TLC for a while tomorrow is a great chance to get your relationship back on track.
Here at Mummie Plants we are passionate about all kind of plants, whether preserved or not. Even though our Mummie Plants happily live maintenance-free we’ll honour ours tomorrow by having a pleasant little chat with them. Yes, as recommended by Prince Charles. Just be careful with hugs!
